Started as Aviation Enterprises, Inc. Name changed to Trans-Texas Airways in 1947. Name changed to Texas International Airlines in 1968. The airline was acquired by Frank Lorenzo in 1972. In 1980, Lorenzo formed a holding company called Texas Air. Texas Air acquired debt-ridden Continental Airlines in 1982, then merged Texas International with Continental.
